Sylhet Bureau :
Allegations have been found that despite the ongoing traffic week to check validity of different vehicles running on roads, the unlicensed CNG auto-rickshaws are moving freely on the local roads.
The traffic department is only checking licence of motorcycles and fining and filing cases against the unlicensed ones.
Meanwhile, President of Sylhet District Transport Workers Union FF Selim Ahmed Folik claimed that despite having licence, route permit and registration, they cannot move buses on the roads.
He also said that though they have all required permission, they have to face police harassment regularly. They spend thousands of taka for securing route permit and fitness test of the buses, but still traffic police harass them in the name of checking and fine them to different amounts.
Meanwhile, the unlicensed CNG auto-rickshaws are plying on the roads freely but police are not catching those, he alleged. In this connection,
ADC of Sylhet Metropolitan Police Abdul Wahab said they are also checking CNG auto-rickshaws and so far they have seized eight of the vehicles.
