Illegal residents leaving Alinagar, Salimpur in Ctg

After several rounds of raids, the district administration issued a public notice to remove the illegal settlements from the Alinagar Hills and Jungle Salimpur of Sitakunda upazila adjoing Baizid thana in the port city Chattogram. Since then, the illegal occupants are moving elsewhere with their belongings. Chattogram district administration has instructed all the illegal residents of Alinagar to move out of the area by August 20. Otherwise strict action is also given against those concerned. Since then, almost every day, the illegal encroachers of government private land in Salimpur Alinagar area of Sitakunda are leaving Alinagar. Many families are leaving the area with goods in trucks and vans. Chattogram district administration conducted a continuous operation in the jungle Salimpur from 3:00pm to evening last Friday.
The construction of the boundary wall around the 57.50 acres of land recovered for South Asia’s first night safari park has begun. The district administration also finalized the place for the security check posts. Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman told media, “We have already disconnected the electricity connection of more than four hundred families in the hills. On August 7, the High Court has given directions to protect the environment, environment and biodiversity of the hills, hills, forests of Alinagar in Salimpur of Sitakunda forest.
It is asked to evacuate all the structures of those occupying hills and hills illegally and to ensure the ownership of legal land owners.”
