Two persons have been fined Tk 2.5 lakh for illegal stone quarrying in Sylhet’s Jaintapur.
Director of Sylhet Divisional Environment Directorate Mohammad Emran Hossain imposed a fine in Asampara area of Jaintapur Upazila on Wednesday (September 7) afternoon.
Director of Sylhet Divisional Environment Department Mohammad Emran Hossain confirmed this information and said, “In addition to fines, everyone has been warned during the raid.” If those who have been fined do the same in the future, they will be fined more as well as severely punished.
Assistant Director of District Environment Department Md. Badrul Huda, Md. Alamgir Hossain, Mohaiminul Haque, Ayyum Hossain etc.
Police and members of Ansar battalion assisted the Department of Environment in the operation.
Meanwhile, local residents Abdus Shukur, Raju, Humayun, Farooq, Alamgir, Rafiq said that the Department of Environment conducted an operation in Assampara area. But mysteriously did not conduct operations in Sreepur Bagan and surrounding areas including Sreepur Quarry.
