Senior Shibalaya Upazila Fisheries Officer Rafiqul Alam carried out a drive to evacuate illegal dams along with 9 vessels on Shibalaya-Mahadevpur-Barangail canal in Manikganj district on Monday. However, no one was arrested in this connection.
Rafiqul Alam said the fisheries department had earlier conducted the operation under the direction of Upazila Nirbahi Officer Jasmin Sultana against the protection of fish fry and killing of all kinds of fish using harmful nets except in floodplains.
