The Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) today started a joint drive for removal of illegal billboards in city.
The drive began from city’s WASA intersection around 11am in presence of high officials from CMP and CCC.
CMP sources said they had earlier been asking the owners of the illegal billboards through loudspeakers to remove the billboards for last three days and the drive would continue until all illegal billboards are removed.
Earlier, CMP commissioner Abdul Jalil Mondol held a meeting with CCC and the owners of different billboards in the city on Thursday.
CCC revenue officer Mohammad Shamsul Alam in the meeting handed over a list of some 422 illegal billboards to the CMP commissioner.
CCC sources said the CCC authority formed a 52-member team for identification and removal of the illegal billboards set up at different places enveloping the natural beauty of the picturesque port city.
