The Birangana Sakhina (BS) Silver Pen Awards-2018 was handed over to noted film actor and road safety activist Ilias Kanchan for his contributions to the country’s social activities and cultural arena last Thursday night at his office in the capital’s Kakrail area. The winners of the BS Silver Pen Awards-2018 were finalised by 301 electoral voters. Earlier this was announced at Gouripur upazila Agriculture Office in Mymensingh last year. The BS Silver Pen Awards-2018 were distributed under 4 categories including journalism; research, science and technology; arts, education, language, literature, and social service in greater Mymensingh areas in every two years.
Popular Dhallywood hero Ilias Kanchan was scheduled to attend the ceremony as the first position winner and special guest in Mymensingh to receive the award, which is the regional popular recognition to the contribution of pen persons in the history of culture and local tradition. But he couldn’t attend earlier. This time he received the award.
Founder and General Secretary of the BS Pen Award electoral committee Mohammad Raihan Uddin Sarker presented the crest to Ilias Kanchan and Sr Vice President of the electoral committee Prof Engr Mohammad Ali Zinnah handed over a certificate to the award recipient at his office in Dhaka. Azam Zahir, President of Creative Association Shah Alam Bhuiyan, media coordinator Amiyo Dutta Bhowmik, Zahirul Huda Liton, among others, were present on the occasion.
