IHF Trophy starts today

The Islami Bank IHF trophy starts today at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium. The matches will be held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium and Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium. Private satellite channel Desh TV will telecast the matches live from the arenas.
Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the meet as the chief guest while Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will be with him as the special guest. Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy and Chairman of Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited Engineer Mustafa Anwar will be present as guests of honour. President of Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, General Secretary of BHF Asaduzzaman Kohinoor will also present at the time.
A total of seven teams splitting into two groups are taking part in the Men’s Division. Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Maldives are in Group A while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India are in Group B.
A number of seven teams dividing into two groups are competing in the Women’s Division.

The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Taka one crore thirteen lakh and ninety six thousand while Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited, the sponsor of the meet has given Tk twenty five lakh. International Handball Federation (IHF) will provide Taka sixty four lakh ninety six thousand and Bangladesh Handball Federation will bear rest of the expenditure from its own fund.
The tournament will come to an end on September 13.
