Inspector General of Police (IGP) Complaint Cell, introduced several years back at Police Headquarters, have been playing an effective role in making police personnel transparent and accountable with strengthening their professionalism.
“None of the police personnel whoever they are will not be spared if they are found guilty and definitely will have to face the music for their non-professional and immoral behavior,” Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Discipline and Professional Standard-1 branch Rezaul Haque of Bangladesh Police told BSS on Wednesday.
“The IGP complaint cell has been at Police Headquarters for long. But, it has started receiving allegations round the clock through online since Nov 13 in 2017,” Haque, also supervisor of the cell, said. IGP Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary said in several occasions, “Bangladesh Police has been relentlessly rendering services to the people to keep aside their own and family happiness and even risking their lives.” He also said police has a lot of success story till the date since the Liberation War of 1971. The entire police force cannot shoulder responsibility of misdeeds by a very few number of policemen. Police introduced the cell to enable people to lodge complaint after being failed to get expected and hassle free services from the policemen aimed at making the police force pro-people and service oriented. Before introduction of the cell, people could not take decision on where they can file complaints against misdeeds of the police personnel. In case necessarily, anyone can lodge his complaint for nonprofessional and immoral activities of the police personnel by calling from a cell phone or by sending email to the complaint cell.
