Iftekharul Islam gets ‘Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award’

Ahmed Iftekharul Islam, has been honoured with the ‘Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award-2015’ for his outstanding contribution in science and technology education at the National Press Club in the city recently.
He received the award form a discussion programe titled “Gandhi’s Non-Violence Movement and Today’s World,” organised by Mahatma Gandhi Parishad.
Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Rashed Khan Menon, MP and Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of World University Bangladesh were present as the chief guest and special guest in the programme respectively, with former Information Secretary Marghub Murshed in the chair.
Ahmed Iftekharul Islam is serving as the Chairman of University of Science and Technology (USTC) in Chittagong. The university was founded by his late father national professor Dr. Nurul Islam.
