BNP's party in Khaleda's honour: Iftar party politics coexistence

The BNP on Tuesday arranged an Iftar Mahfil showing honour to jailed party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Political leaders from different parties joined the Iftar Mahfil.
As per the jail code Khaleda Zia gets Iftar items of TK 30. The BNP also offered Ifter items of the same value to the guests at the mahfil.
BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman signed the invitation cards sent to the political leaders.
A card was sent to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned her the President of Awami League. Another card was sent to Obaidul Quader, General Secretary of the party.
But no leaders from the ruling party joined the Iftar Mahfil.
Criticism rose from different corners over the BNP’s invitation of the ruling party as they earlier claimed that the 11th Parliamentary election held under the AL was full of irregularities and vote rigging.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said before the Iftar that they have arranged very poor items for the invited guests. He asked them to take the Ifter in the honour of Khaleda Zia who is taking the same items regularly during Ramzan.
Gonoforum President Dr. Kamal Hossain was invited to attend the Iftar Mahfil but he did not join.
Ganoforum leaders Professor Abdullah Abu Syaeed and Subrato Chowdhury, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Kallyan Party Chairman Major General (rtd) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, General Secretary MM Aminur Rahman, NPP President Fariduzzaman Farhad, Labour party President Mustafizur Rahman Iran, Muslim League President AHM Kamruzzaman and Bangladesh NAP President MN Shaown Sadeki, among others, were present.
Among professional persons, Gono Shaystho Kendro Trusty Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury, Professor Abdul Latif Masum, Professor Shamsul Alam and Professor Sharif Uddin, took part in the Iftar.
