Noted artiste Iffat Ara Dewan delighted the audience at a solo musical soiree held at Bengal Lounge in the city’s Gulshan area recently. The programme was organised as part of her solo art exhibition titled ‘Last Summer.’ Around 50 paintings are on display at the exhibition at present where the artiste used varied mediums. In the musical soiree, Iffat Ara Dewan rendered Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, old Bengali songs, modern Bengali songs, songs of Atul Prasad Sen, Rajanikanta Sen and DL Roy to mesmerise the audience. Iffat Ara Dewan received her early training in music through a five-year music course at Chhayanaut in Dhaka under noted Tagore exponents Waheedul Haque and Sanjida Khatun. She started to paint in the 1990s.
