If ACC can`t go against influential people then they should stop boasting

THE Anti-Corruption Commission Chairman Iqbal Mahmood on Thursday mentioned their incapability of bringing influential people to justice as they could hold back the documents related to alleged corruption. He was responding to questions from journalists on why the Commission could not probe corruption allegations against Ministers, lawmakers and government high-ups and whether the government interfered in ACC investigations. He said, “When an influential person commits a corruption, he retains the documents. No matter how many reports are run, it’s not so easy to have those files. The files are found later when his tenure is over.” It was a views-exchange meeting held at ACC Headquarters by the graft watchdog under the banner “Ongoing Activities in light of Anti-Corruption Commission’s Five-Year Strategy Plan”.
The ACC Chief vowed to ensure protection of journalists in case they were threatened over running corruption reports. It will be easy to go against rice traders. But there are many agencies for harassing the rice traders for disappear of rice from the market.
Of the accused, 27 were BASIC Bank officials and the rest borrowers and surveyors. He said the ACC has introduced a point system to ensure punishment in all cases and reduce harassment of innocent people. According to the system, if an allegation scored 80 points at the enquiry level, the ACC would proceed with filing a case.
Not all but some of the ACC officials have corrupted themselves, but who will investigate that? They know they have police power to arrest.
Whether it is ACC or any another body with state power, especially with power to arrest, it takes full advantage to exploit the powerless ones in the country. If ACC cannot go against ministers and other high-ups in the government, then they should stop boasting. They should not show power to punish the rice hoarders or threaten the violators of traffic rules. They should stop calling every act as corruption. A loan defaulter is not necessarily guilty of corruption.
