IEB launches telemedicine service amid coronavirus crisis

Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), the oldest and biggest platform of country’s engineers, on Wednesday launched free telemedicine service for all amid the ongoing coronavirus transmission crisis.
Any citizen can avail the service from 11am to 11pm from anywhere across the country by dialling 09611888111 number. A total of 34 specialized doctors would provide the service round the clock at fully free of cost. If any patient wants to show his diagnosis report to his doctor, he can sent that as attachment on e-mail address [email protected] with doctor’s name and code on the subject. The doctor will look into the report and set further steps for the patient and let him know. “If anyone makes any unnecessary and unwanted call, the caller would be blacklisted and law enforcement agencies would be informed,” a press release said.
Launching the service through video conference, Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar said because of the initiative of IEB, any person would be able to enjoy the benefit easily and free of cost. The minister assured all kind of support from the government in this regard and urged IEB authorities to bring the service under an app. IEB President and Awami League Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Engineer Md Abdus Sabur presided over the video conference, which was also joined by IEB honorary General Secretary Khandker Manjur Morshed, former Director of IEDCR Dr Md Eusuf, ENT Specialist Lt Col Dr Bashir Ahmed, Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr Saifuddin Ahmed, Dr Saida Maksuda Morshed, Dr Rokeya KHatun and Dr Rumana Akhter, among others.
