Some miscreants on Wednesday evening vandalized two idols of the Hindu community during Gangapuja at Jhaudia village under Sailkupa municipality.
Two Hindu female devotees were injured when the attackers swooped on them. But the police could not arrest anyone in this connection, said the locals.
Kumaresh Chandra Biswas, President , Jhaudia Sarbajanin Durga Mandir Committee said, the Hindu community people were observing the Ganagapuja like past years. When they were preparing for diving the idols in the water of nearby Kumar River in the evening, the miscreants vandalized two idols Ganga and Bhagirathi. The attackers including Suman and Biplab Seikh were expressing their joy after vandalizing the idols, eyewitnesses said.

Sailkupa police sub inspector Gakul Chandra said, the police visited the spot and seized some symptoms of vandalized idols at the river bed. Police could not arrest the attackers, the SI said.
