ICU chiefs die of Coronavirus

The heads of Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of several prominent hospitals in Dhaka have died of Covid-19 in the last couple of days.
On Saturday night, Dr Sajjad Hossain, an anesthesiologist, who headed the intensive care unit (ICU) of the BRB Hospital in Dhaka, died after being infected by Covid-19.
“Dr Sajjad Hossain is the 34th doctor of the country who died being infected with Covid-19,” Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), told the media.
Dr Sajjad, a graduate of Chittagong Medical College, breathed his last at 9pm Saturday undergoing treatment at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He was there for 14 days.
His wife is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital with Covid-19.
Besides, Professor Dr Mozaffar Hossain, head of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), tested positive for Covid-19.
Confirming this, DMCH Director Brigadier General AKM Nasir Uddin, said: “Dr Mozaffar is now in home isolation as his health condition is good enough for receiving treatment at home.”
According to DMCH sources, Dr Mozaffar tested positive around six days back. Square Hospital ICU chief died last week
Earlier on June 7, Dr Mirza Nazim Uddin, ICU chief of Square Hospital in Dhaka, died from Covid-19.
A BMA member, Dr Nazim graduated from DMCH, said the BMA president.
“None of us, even doctors, police and general people, are now safe from the deadly virus. Everybody has to maintain social distancing to keep safe from it,” he suggested.
