The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has ordered Barrister Dr. Tureen Afroz, a prosecutor at ICT, to appear before it tomorrow (Thursday). The ICT-1 came up with the order for her derogatory remark towards Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam, a war crime accused. She had allegedly thrown a derogatory speech during presenting arguments against Azharul. A tribunal branch led by ICT-1 Chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Wednesday. Earlier on Tuesday, Tureen Afroz termed Azharul as beast and brute during presenting arguments of a war crime case on Rangpur Town Hall incident of independence war in 1971. Shishir Munir, defence lawyer of ATM Azharul Islam noticed the speech to the ICT-1. He alleged that Tureen’s speech was ill-motivated and tantamount to contempt of court.– risingbd.com
