The investigation agency of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has finalized its probe report in two cases against 16 people, accused of committing crimes against humanity in 1971.
“Of the accused, 12 are from Jessore and Narail and four are from Sherpur,” senior coordinator of the agency M Sanaul Haque told newsmen at a briefing held at its Dhanmondi office on Thursday morning.
“Three of the four accused from Sherpur are now in custody and they are SM Aminuzzaman Faruk, 58, AKM Akram Hossain, 62, and Md Emdadul Haque alias Khaja Dakter, 74. Investigation officer Monwara Begum initiated the probe on November 19, 2015 and concluded on Wednesday. We have recorded testimonies of 60 people and made 34 as witnesses in the case,” Haque added.
The investigation official said all the three arrestees are actively involved with the politics of BNP.
“We have brought four charges against them including of murder, torture, forced labour and confinement,” he said.
Sanaul Haque said they have also finalizes report in the case against 12 from Jessore and Narail. ”
Of the 12, five accused Abdul Wahab Mollah, 80, Md Omar Ali Sheikh, 64, Md Bodruddoza alias Bodiuzzaman, 75, Md Daud Sheikh, 67, and Md Gulzar Hossain Khan, 75, are now in custody.
