ICT orders arrest of 5 war crimes suspects

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Monday issued warrants ordering arrest of five alleged Razakars of Sudharampur area of Noakhali to be exposed to justice for their alleged 1971 war crimes.
Court officials said the tribunal issued the warrants as the prosecution formally accused them of committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War submitting charge sheets.
The accused are – Amir Ahmed alias Amir Ali, Abul Kalam alias AKM Monsur, Mohammad Eusuf, Mohammad Joynal Abdin and Mohammad Abdul Kuddus.
“Each of them were accused of three specific charges including genocide . . . 27 people have been listed as prosecution witnesses to testify against them,” tribunal prosecutor Jahid Imam said.
He said the tribunal’s special investigation agency enquiry found the five were directly involved in the massacres of 111 people.
