ICT knowledge emphasised for survival

To prepare the students for the 21st century and to adapt them to the latest ICT friendly education to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities to fit globally, Daffodil International University (DIU) in association with Daffodil Computers Ltd. distributed 2000 ‘DCL’ Brand laptop among the students under “One Student-One Laptop” project recently at ‘Swadhinota’ Milonayoton of Daffodil International University, Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka.
Professor Dr. BiswajitChanda, Honorable Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) was present in the Laptop Distribution Ceremony as the Chief Guest while Md. Omar Faruque, Director, Private University Division, University Grants Commission Bangladesh was present as the special guest.
The function was presided over by Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S M Mahbub Ul Haque Majumder, and also present by Mominul Haque Majumder, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Kamal, Dean of Academic Affairs. Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director of Student Affairs conducted the program.  
The authority of Daffodil International University in association with Daffodil Computers Ltd. has taken a gigantic initiative of “One Student: One Laptop” program which is one step ahead for digital Bangladesh from 2010.
Every student admitted into Daffodil International University from Summer Semester-2010 and on ward is getting a Laptop at free of cost. Till the date 40000 Laptops have been distributed so far.
The Laptop will help the students to equip themselves with proper technical knowledge so that they can survive and secure respectable place in the society. Through this initiative DIU students will get the opportunity to implement Digital Bangladesh concept
Addressing as chief guest Professor Dr. BiswajitChanda said that once upon a time there was a strong interest among students in admission to business administration. Now there is an interest in information technology. This is the demand of the age. The present time is the time of information technology.
It is not possible to survive in this world without knowledge of information technology. Daffodil University is offering free laptops to students to help them build up their technology knowledge. This is a fancy initiative.
Professor Dr. Biswajit Chanda highly praised this initiative and said that he has never heard of any such initiative in any foreign university. Many universities offer loans to students to buy laptops.
