ICT issues warrant against 3 war crimes suspects

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Sunday issued arrest warrant against alleged Razakar commander Gazi Abdul Mannan, Hafiz Uddin and Azharul Islam of Kishoreganj The three allegedly committed crimes against humanity during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
The three-members tribunal-1, headed by its chairman Justice Enayetur Rahim, passed the order against the three suspects following the prosecution’s plea.
Prosecutor Advocate Sultan Mahmud Simon pleaded for their arrests warrant, saying that the suspects were involved in the crimes against humanity during the liberation war.
They aided and abetted the Pakistani occupation forces to carry out atrocities against the innocent Bengali’s. In the primary investigations, it had emerged that they were involved in different crimes against humanity including murder, torture, plundering and arson, Simon said.
“The prosecution sought arrest warrants for the three as the evidences came out against them during the investigation against the other two accused persons,” Simon said.
“In the primary investigation against ATM Nasiruddin and Advocate Shamsuddin, accused of crimes against humanity, we found that the three were also involved in the similar crimes during the liberation war. So, we prayed for the arrest warrant against them also,” he said.
Considering the prosecution’s plea, the tribunal issued arrest warrant against the three alleged Razakars of Kishorehanj.
The tribunal also asked the prosecution to submit progressive report of the investigation report against the accused on March 30.
