A letter has been sent to the concerned bodies of the government seeking relocation of the Chief Prosecutor’s office of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) immediately as the existing office building is now at high risk.
Chief Prosecutor Advocate Golam Arif Tipu sent a letter on August 26, 2019, saying, “The existing building is so dilapidated that some parts of the ceiling of the second floor have begun to collapse which
is disrupting vital government functions.”
“During the rainy season, many rooms of the building are constantly flooded and important furniture of the room and the case documents are destroyed. At any time, there is a possibility of crash like Rana Plaza in Savar. This is my opinion that the building is no longer usable. But the functions of the International Crimes Tribunal are fully operational,” read the letter.
“The ministry had already been notified in writing several times in the past in this regard. So it is urgent to relocate the office of the chief prosecutor of the ICT from this risky building on a priority basis,” also read the letter.
