ICT-based edn to create skilled workforce stressed

Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah on Saturday stressed the need for expanding ICT-based education to make the students skilled workforce for their better survival in the competitive world.
“Students should be given ICT-friendly atmosphere aimed at flourishing their latent talents to build technologically advanced country in line with the modern world,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker made the comments while addressing a programme on ICT, jointly organized by ICT Business Promotion Council (IBPC) and Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) at the auditorium of Zila Shilpakala Academy of the town here on Saturday morning as the chief guest.
Police super Ashraful Islam and additional deputy commissioner (General) Abu Bakar Siddique were present as the special guests while IT writer and chairman of Cystic Digital Limited Dr. Mahbubur Rahman was the chief discussant.
With SM Wahiduzzaman, joint secretary general of BCS in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by vice principal of Ahammad Uddin Shah Shishu Niketan, School and College Mazharul Mannan, officer of IBPC Faysal Khan, and central coordinator of the function Ahsanul Islam Nawshad.
As massive digitized programmes were implemented across the country, Fazle Rabbi said the students could know the results of their public examinations sitting at their homes through mobile phone sets and internet.
Not only that, the students are getting admission into different academic
institutions including universities through online registration system which
is a blessing of the use of ICT, he added.
Apart from this, rural people are now enjoying modern facilities of all e-
services and benefiting enormously getting information of the whole world
instantly; he said adding that though they could never think in recent pasts
about ICT services and benefits.
Terming the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as ICT-
education friendly, he said the government has adopted epoch making projects
in ICT sector to build the country into a middle income one by 2021 through
materializing the dream of building digital Bangladesh.
He also asked all to help the students acquire proper knowledge in a bid
to develop their skills on ICT to build them worthy citizens of the country
for the competitive 21st century.
Over 200 students from different academic institutions of the district
took part in the programme.
