The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 on Tuesday took into cognizance the charges of crimes against humanity pressed against four Netrokona men and set December 20 for holding hearing on the charge framing.
The accused are Md Khalilur Rahman, 72, his brother Azizur Rahman, 65, Ashak Ali, 82, and Md Shahnewaj, 88. In the case, there was another accused named Ramjan Ali. He died on September 30 and his name was dropped from the case.
“Justice Md. Shahinur Islam, Chairman of the three-member panel of the ICT-1, passed the order and also directed the office of the tribunal registrar to publish advertisement in national dailies asking fugitive Khalilur Rahman to turn himself in,” said prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman.
The prosecution submitted the formal charge in the case on May 3.
The investigation agency of the tribunal on January 30 released its probe report in the case. According to the prosecution, the accused carried out crimes against humanity, including genocide, murder and rape in and around Durgapur and Kalmakanda areas in Netrokona in 1971.
