Court Correspondent :
The International Crimes Tribunal yesterday issued warrant of arrest against former BNP MP Abdul Momin Talukder for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971.
“The two-member tribunal issued the warrant against him. Momin Talukder should be arrested for the sake of proper investigation,” Senior Prosecutor Sultan Mahmud Simon told newsmen on Thursday.
The prosecution lawyer said also that Momin Talukder was the commander of local Razakar Bahini and carried out mayhem in the locality with his cohorts during the liberation war.
“He is very influential person in his locality. His father was elected MP for three times. He himself became MP twice. His brother is the incumbent Upazila Chairman. So we are facing trouble to carry out investigation against him,” Mahmud Simon added.
The prosecutor said that the probe body of the ICT launched its investigation against the accused in January, 2016, and found his involvement in murder and genocide.
