A delegation of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) led by President Mohammed Salim, called on Mahbub Ahmed, Secretary for Commerce at his office on Tuesday.
The ICMAB delegation apprised the Commerce Secretary of the role of Cost and Management Accountants and their contribution towards establishment of transparency, accountability and corporate governance in the business and industrial sectors of the country.
The ICMAB President briefed the Secretary about recent adoption of short and long range Strategic Development Plan by the Institute where to keep pace with the world-class IT based professional standard emphasis has been given on improvement of the existing education and examination system and library facilities. He also informed about undertaking prospective structural development program of the office building for providing better and well equipped classroom environment for the students. The delegation sought active support and guidance of the Commerce Secretary in connection with implementation of Cost Audit as well as for development of CMA Profession and ICMAB Institute.
The Commerce Secretary appreciated the significant role of Cost and Management Accountants and put emphasis on expansion of the professional activities of the Institute in order face the growing demand of this profession in home and abroad. He assured of all possible help and assistance for the development of the Institute as well as the CMA profession.
