ICC chairman praises Bangladesh’s achievements in MDGs

International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Chairman Paul Polman today said Bangladesh is one of the major contributors to the achievement of the MDGs globally.
In a reception hosted to him by ICC Bangladesh, he said MDGs have achieved notable progress in many global issues and also given rise the hope to create a new world within existing means, that is why the 2030 Agenda for SDGs has also offered a set of bold, ambitious and innovative package to transform the world.
“I believe Bangladesh businesses will be able to understand what the individual SDGs are actually about, how their own activity contributes towards the achievement of each one and the action and investment required” he said.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Prime Minister’s Economic Affairs Adviser Dr Mashiur Rahman highlighted the election manifesto of the Awami League especially unemployment, poverty and challenges of climate change.
He said the government is working on reducing the non-performing loan, improving doing business index, customs modernization and other issues to attract more investments by both local and foreign investors.
ICCB President Mahbubur Rahman said the United States and China are world’s two biggest economies, and trade and economic relations between the two countries are of great significance for the world economy.
