Court Correspondent :
A lawyer from Dhaka sued four persons, including the Chairman of the Ibn Sina group, for allegedly giving wrong report on a blood platelet level test necessary in the treatment of dengue.
Dhaka Bar Association lawyer Ramzan Ali Sardar alias Rana Sardar lodged the case with the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Didar Hossain on Tuesday while the court directed the concerned OC to investigate the matter and submit report.
The accused people are Chairman of the Ibn Sina Hospital, Chairman of Ibn Sina Group, Managing Director of Ibn Sina Diagnostic and Imaging Center of Dhanmondi and Hematologist Consultant Professor Dr retired Colonel Md Moniruzzaman of Ibn Sina Hospital.
The complainant lawyer alleged that he went to Dhanmondi branch of Ibn Sina Diagnostic and Imaging Center on July 25 for a CBC blood test. After paying the fee, he gave a blood sample and the report was given to him on July 26.
In the report, he saw his platelet as 784000 CMM and got panicked. Later, he went to Bangladesh Medical College Hospital for the same blood test. As per their report, his platelet level was 200,000 CMM, which is normal for a human being.
The complainant says that if he would take drug depending on the ‘false’ report of Ibn Sina, he would suffer physically, mentally and financially, even there was life risk also.
The complainant said that the platelet level of a normal and sound human being remains between 1,50000 and 4,50000 CMM. Therefore, the diagnostic center committed crimes under sections 269/270/406 of the penal code, providing the wrong report. He also pleaded for issuance of warrant to arrest the accused people.
Hearing the statement of the complainant, the court ordered Officer-in- Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station to investigate the allegation and submit a report in his court.
