Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited opened its 298th branch at Kalurghat in Chittagong on Sunday. Humayun Bokhteyar, ACPA, FCA, Director of the bank inaugurated the branch as chief guest., said a press release.
Presided over by Muhammad Abul Bashar, Deputy Managing Director of the bank Mohammad Azam, Councilor, Chittagong City Corporation addressed the program as special guest.
Mohammad Amirul Islam, Executive Vice President and Head of Chittagong South Zone of IBBL delivered welcome address in the program.
Nazim Uddin Ahmed, former Commissioner, Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Banker, Chandu Bikash Barua, Genrel Secretary of Chandgaon Sarbojanin Bouddha Bihar, Rikta Barua, Academician, Mohammad Abdul Monayem, Local Businessmen and Mohammaed Nurul Absar, General Secretary of Kamal Bazar Chamber of Commerce, Dr Kamal Uddin Jasim, Head of Busines Promotion and Marketing Division of the bank were present in the program.
Humayun Bokhteyar, ACPA, FCA, said Islami bank started the culture of transparency, accountability and fairness through compliance of rules and regulations of Islamic Shari’ah, government, Bangladesh Bank and other regulatory authorities of the bank in its all operations.
Ensuring welfare to people through banking business is the motto of Islami Bank and it is the bank of 16 Crore people of Bangladesh. IBBL is working for the overall economic development of Bangladesh through investment facilities in import-export trade, industry, agriculture, real estate, SME, education, medical sector and remittance collection.

Muhammad Abul Bashar said Islami bank is contributing in entrepreneurship development, women empowerment, employment generation, reducing unemployment and balance economic growth. IBBL has been playing significant role through Rural Development Scheme among 10lac poor and marginalized people in 19 thousand villages of Bangladesh. Welfare oriented service of IBBL is open to all, he added.
He said Islami bank in 954th position among the 1000 top rated banks in the world. It is handling more than fifty per cent market share of total Islamic micro-finance of the world.
Earlier, a seminar titled “Superiority and Success of Islami Banking” was took place on August 29, 2015 in the branch premise on the occasion of branch opening while Mohammad Amirul Islam, Executive Vice President and Head of Chittagong South Zone presentend a paper. Sheikh Moulana Mohammad Qutubuddin, Chairman, Shari’ah Supervisory Committee addressed the seminar as chief speaker. Professor Dr AKM Abdul Qader, Department of Arabic, Chittagong University and Moulana Abdul Aziz Anwari, Vice Principal, Al-Amin Baria Fazil Madrasa discussed on the topic.
