IBA commemorates 50 yrs of legacy

the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, the country’s foremost educational institute for business, celebrated its Golden Jubilee at a grand commemoration on Thursday, remembering its long history of 50 years.
Present at the celebrations were Obaidul Quader, MP, Minister, Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, as chief guest, who inaugurated the program. Also present were Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro Vice Chancellor – Academic and Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Pro Vice Chancellor – Administration of University of Dhaka as special guests.
Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, President, IBA Alumni Association (IBAAA) and Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid, Director, IBA were also present. Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka presided over the ceremony.
Following recitation from the Holy Books, Prof Dr AKM Saiful Majid welcomed all the guests and presented a video documentary about the history and legacy of the institution.
This was followed by speeches from Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Obaidul Quader, MP, and Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique.
The program was wrapped up by Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, with a vote of thanks.
Dr AKM Saiful Majid, Director, IBA welcomed the guests, commenting “It is humbling to welcome such esteemed guests to such a grand event – celebrating 50 years of excellence in business education in the country. IBA started in 1966, in collaboration with Indiana University, Bloomington, USA to promote business education in the country, becoming the pioneer institute to offer an MBA degree in Bangladesh.
Over time, to cater to growing demands, the institute introduced BBA, EMBA, MPhil, DBA, PhD and Management Development Programs. Today we know that alumni of our proud institute have grounded themselves in top-tier positions in the business world and demonstrated dominance their fields.”
Nazmul Hasan Papon, MP, added in his vote of thanks, “I am delighted to be in your midst today – on the joyous occasion of IBA’s Golden Jubilee. I’m proud to be a part of this premier business institute of national importance, having completed 50 years at the heart of University of Dhaka.
Throughout its history, IBA has held a significant responsibility towards the continuous development and augmentation of business management skills in Bangladesh, and I believe the initiatives the institute has undertaken demonstrates how dedicated they are to this goal.”
