Mushfiqur Rahim, who is currently under a rehabilitation program is hopeful to recover in time and play in the upcoming series against Zimbabwe, starting from 21st October.
Mushfiqur has a rib fracture and he played in the Asia Cup with the injury. With painkillers, he managed to play the whole tournament apart from a match against Afghanistan where he was rested.
The in form batsman after the practice session on Monday told reporters:
“I am feeling much better now as the pain has been reducing gradually while I am increasing my workload accordingly. Right now, I am under a rehabilitation program and hopefully will start my batting within a day or two. As there is no need of a surgery, hopefully, I will recover in time and will be available for the upcoming series.”
Mushfiqur will do a scan on 15th October, which might tell if he can play the upcoming series or not.
“Basically you need to give 15 to 20 days for the bone (of the rib) to get fixed, so I am planning to do a scan on October 15. In the meantime, I will follow the rehabilitation program and see how it goes. Once our camp starts (in the next few days), the physio will arrive and I will determine my next course of action.”
Despite suffering from injuries in the past few months, the dependable batsman doesn’t want to miss out on any matches.
“Basically you don’t get lot of chances to represent your country. So I want to play all the matches for Bangladesh. Certainly injury is a concern and you have to accept the reality. At the moment, as it stands, there won’t be any problem regarding playing competitive cricket and you never know what is in store for you as far as your career in concerned.”
