It was 2000 when then popular film actress Munmun was engaged with acting in movies. Though she was busy with acting in commercial films during that time but she wanted to work in that type of movie which story is based on literature. Unfortunately she couldn’t get the opportunity to work in literature story based film. But she only got the scope to work in a story-drama titled Dhan-er Kabbyo, which was directed by Bibesh Roy. Its story was an adaptation from late Kazi Shahed Ali’s short story titled Fosol Tolar Kahini.
Its shooting was done in and around Moddhyonogor Bazar in Sunamganj. Late Zahir Raihan also wanted to make a movie with this story. Despite having works of many commercial films during that time Munmun went to Moddhyonogor to take part in the shooting. Munmun also came into limelight to act in role of a rural wife in this story-drama.
This time Munmun recalled the memories of Dhan-er Kabbyo. While talking in this regard Munmun said, “In the long journey of my career, I worked in many types of story based movies. In fact, I could not get the opportunity to work like Dhan-er Kabbyo. Later I was communicated with Bibesh Dada to act in this type of work. But Dada did not work in this type of literature based work and I also couldn’t get the scope. But I really want to work in literature based works as viewers can treat me as a film-lovers actress.”
Munmun also said that recently she has finished shooting of Mizanur Rahman’s movie Ragi. She played the role of Queen Victoria in this film.
Munmun-starred last released movie was Meghkonnya. She last acted in Delwar Jahan Jhontu’s movie 52 theke 71 and Danny Sidak’s movie Kasar Thali Rupali Chand. These two were government-grant movies. Though in 1997 she first acted in late Ehtesham’s movie Moumachhi Munmun debuted her career through Jibon Rahman’s movie Ajker Sontrashi. Till now she acted in more than 90 movies.
