President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nazmul Hassan Papon said, “I shall ask Coach Russell Domingo and Captain Mominul Haque for the Test series defeat to West Indies on Sunday.”
After losing the Test series, Nazmul Hassan expressed his reaction on the same day to the newsmen.
He said, ” I told to Coach and Captain to include Mahmudullah Riyad in the squad for the second Test against West Indies but they included Soumya Sarkar instead of Riyad.”
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh tasted a bitter 17-run defeat after most of the batsmen played haplessly, helplessly and casually.
He said, ” There is a problem in the team but I think it will be easy to solve the problems. After dismal performance against Afghanistan, I didn’t say anything. But I think it is not fair to run this team with such kind of lacking.”
He also said, “I could not talk to all the cricketers due to coronavirus pandemic. I talked with them in a virtual meeting. But it was not enough. I asked the selectors what was there plan. I could not talk to the members of the team. However, I shall find out what was the cause of dismal performance.”
Meanwhile, Mominul Haque, the Captain of Bangladesh team said, ” Shakib Al Hasan’s absence is one of the main reason of debacle. We felt problem to form a good quality team without Shakib.”
