The Hizbut Tawheed, a political organization, has blamed Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam and Islami Shashontantra Andolon for the death of two of their supporters during a clash with villagers at Sonaimuri upazila in Noakhali district on Monday.
“The activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hefazat-e-Islam and Islami Shashontantra Andolon killed our activists. They are now telling that the villagers attacked and killed our men, which is totally false. The villagers didn’t attack them,” Hezbut Tawheed
Ameer Moshiour Rahman said at a press conference in Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Thursday.
The party has also demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to those people who were involved with the incident.
The leaders of the party alleged that the police arrested the Tawheed men instead of the real killers.
They also demanded the unconditional release of their activists.
Questioning the role of the police, Rufaydah Panni, daughter of Hezbut founder said, “We warned the police beforehand that such an incident might take place. Had they provided protection, these causalities could have been avoided.”
Two Hezbut operatives and a local were killed and over 150 others, including several policemen, injured during Monday’s clash between villagers and the Hezbut men over building a mosque at Sonaimuri upazila.
The Hezbut activists Ibrahim Khan Rubel, 27, son of Nurul Haque, and Mohammad Solaiman, 24, from Pourkara village, and Mujibul Haque Mujib, 50, from Khodkhasta village were shot dead, while marks of stab were found in the bodies of the two other deceased.
