Staff Reporter :At least four persons were arrested in connection with the incident of series bomb blasts at Huseni Dalan in Old Dhaka of the capital on Saturday.Police did not disclose the identities of the detained persons for the shake of investigation. “The arrested persons are now being interrogated by police,” said M Azizul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chawkbazar Police Station.A teenage boy was killed and over 100 were injured in the deadly blasts in small hours of the day targeting a crowd of Shia Muslims’ who gathered to bring out the ‘Taziah procession’ on the occasion of Holy Ashura in the city.The deceased was identified as Sajjad Hossain Sanju, 16, a Class Six student of a school in the area.Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Chawkbazar Police Station Jalal Uddin on Sunday filed a case over the explosions under the Anti-Terrorism Act, Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Md Mofizuddin Ahmed said.A three-member probe committee was formed to investigate the incident, said Muntasirul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of DMP.However, militant group Islamic State (IS) claimed the responsibility of the bombings while the government has dismissed the claim.Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal termed that blasts, a conspiracy by local and international gangs.”Local and international gangs are involved with the conspiracy aiming to destablise the country and create panic among people,” he told The New Nation on Sunday.He said the law enforcers are trying to find out if militants have linked with the blasts.On the other hand, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque claimed a link between the blasts and the recent killing of an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Dhaka.The IGP said that explosives were similar to the ones used in the attack on Shia’s procession.DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia also said that Huseni Dalan attack was pre-planned.”We have video footage of the attack. The culprits will be identified soon,” the DMP boss said. of Police, Sanwar Hossain, one of the miscreants hurled homemade “grenades” at the procession from a graveyard at Huseni Dalan.Sanwar said: “We have found evidence that powerful handmade grenades were hurled from the graveyard targeting the gathering.Earlier, at least one person has been killed and nearly 80 others injured in the bomb attacks in the city’s Huseni Dalan area.The first explosion occurred around 1:30am Saturday while the Shia community people were preparing for their traditional Taziah procession.However, the bombs can’t defer the procession the Shia also community brought out their traditional Taziah procession from ImamBara with due religious fervour despite the bomb attacks.Apart from the main procession from the ImamBara, the Shias also brought out several Taziahs processions from different part of the capital, marking the Holy Ashura.They were seen carrying Duldul, the symbolic horse of the Imam banners and flags in remembrance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husein (RA), the grandson of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh), along with his family members and 72 followers.
