One person was sentenced to death by hanging for murdering his wife at village Paharpur under Kendua upazila of Netrakona district during the year of 2000.
Additional District and Session Judge Netrakona Mohamamd Abdul Hamid pronounced the judgment at his crowded court room on Monday. The convicted person was not present at the court as he has been absconding.
The court sources said, the convicted person was identified as Nurul Islam, 45, son of late Amiruddin Munshi.
The case, in brief, is that the Nurul Islam got married with Chafira Begum alias Chafura, 35, daughter of late Ashok Ali from village Bora- Kalian under Kendua upazila. Chafura gave birth two children. They used to lock in quarrels random as Nurul Islam used to criticize Chafura terming her as characterless.
On the midnight of July 20, in 2000, Nurul Islam murdered his wife Chafura by wrapping her neck with her Saree in a paddy field near village Bora-Kalian and he came back his house leaving behind her body on the paddy -field.
After the killing incident, the victim’s elder brother Abdur Rashid filed a murder case with the Kendua police station against Nurul Islam.
