A tribunal here on Monday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife in 2010. The condemned convict was identified as Badrul Alam alias Badiuzzaman Badsha, son of Bazlur Rahman alias Kazal Miah of Nalua Road in the city.
The court also fined him Tk 50,000. According to
the prosecution, Jannatul Ferdous Jenny, wife of Badshah who was also a schoolgirl then, was strangulated to death by her husband on January 25, 2010 over dowry.
Victim’s father Joynal Abedin filed a murder case with Sadar Police Station in this connection.
After examining the records and 22 witnesses, Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Lutfa Begum handed down the verdict.
