Amit Kumar Dey, Judge, Woman and Child Repression Protection Court, Jessore has given death penalty to Krishna Pada Sarker of Narayanpur under Keshabpur upazila in Jessore for killing his wife Anna Sarker was his wife, court sources said.
Idris Ali, public prosecutor of the concerned court told that Krishna Pada Sarker of Narayanpur village had beaten to death his wife Anna Sarker for dowry in 2003. Jotish Chandra Roy, brother of the victim filed a case with Keshabpur police station accusing Krishna Pada Sarker, his mother Karuna Sarker and Panchanan of the area on May 3 in this connection.
The court handed down death penalty to Krishna Pada Sarker and acquitted the others after long hearing. The court also fined Tk 1 lakh to the convict in absentia.
