A husband cuts off seven fingers of his wife for adding too much oil to the curry. He was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. The incident happened on Sunday at Bara Harishpur village of Natore Sadar Upazila.
Local people said that 13 years ago, Abdul Hai, son of late Fazlur Rahman of that village, married Mukti Begum (30), daughter of Joynal Abedin of Atgharia village of Sadar Upazila. He kept his previous 3 marriages a secret. The couple has two children at home. After marriage, Abdul Hai tortured his wife often. At around 1 pm on last Sunday, Abdul Hai got angry and stabbed Mukti Begum with a sharp hasua because of the incident of adding too much oil while cooking the curry. At this time seven fingers of both hands of Mukti were injured. Various parts of the body including the face are injured. Mukt’s relatives rushed her to Natore Modern Sadar Hospital. If the condition worsened there, he was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital emergency department’s doctor. Dr. Reza Un Nabi said that the condition of Mukti Begum’s fingers is very bad.
One arm of hand has been broken. If the operation is not done on an urgent basis, the fingers will be lost.
Mukti Begum said that her husband started beating her because she put too much oil in the curry in the afternoon. At one point, when he tried to cut my throat with the hasua, I stopped him with my hand. Hit me in the face with hasua. If I didn’t run away, I would have been killed. I want the judgment of the superstitious husband.
Naseem Ahmed, OC of Natore police station said that Mukti Begum was given medical treatment immediately after learning about the incident. A case has been filed in this connection. In this time, Police arrested accused Abdul Hai.
