A Barishal court on Tuesday noon sentenced accused husband to death for killing wife demanding dowry at Hizla upazila of the district.
The death sentenced accused was Yusuf Shikdar, 32, son of Harun Shikdar of Memania village under Hizla upazila of Barishal district.
Abu Shamim Azad, district and session judge of the tribunal for prevention of torture against women and children at Barishal handed down this verdict in presence of the accused under section 302 of penal code after examining 13 witnesses and other evidences and documents.
Special public prosecutor of that court Advocate Faizul Huq Foyez said Kulsum Begum, daughter of Faruk Shikdar from Induria village of the upazila married socially with Yusuf Shikdar in 2012.
