Unit-8 of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on early Tuesday arrested Mizan Bepari (28) and Aklima Begum, (50) husband and mother-in-law of Rima Begum (24) who allegedly killed by tortures of in-laws on Sunday night at their home in Shibpur area under Wazirpur Upazila of Barishal.
RAB-8 operating drive arresting aforesaid two handed over to police after interrogation on Tuesday afternoon. They would be produced before the court on Wednesday, said Shishir Kumar Pal, officer in charge of Wazirpur police station.
Issuing a press note on Tuesday noon RAB-8 coating police sources said Mizan Bepari and Rima Begum married seven years ago and after that husband and family members regularly mentally and physically tortured Rima demanding dowry.
Family members of Rima gave Tk One lakh after marriage and then the in-laws started torturing again on Rima demanding more two lakhs taka for psciculture and cock-hen farming.
As family members of Rima failed to give demanded dowry again, the in-laws started altercation with Rima over that on September 21 and physically torturing strangled to death her. Then the killer in-laws hanging dead body of Rima tying scarf on neck on mango tree of their courtyard on September 22 morning, claimed that Rima committed suicide over family feud.
However family members of the victim lodged a case with Wazirpur police station under act for preventing torture against women and children on the same day accusing in-laws for killing Rima.
