Husband killed, 1st wife put on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday placed first wife Fatema Khatun on a five-day remand in a case filed on the charge of killing her husband and cutting the body into six pieces.
Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the remand order. Earlier, on Tuesday Investigation Officer of the case produced the accused in the court with a 10-day remand plea.
Victim Mayna Mia’s second wife Mosammat Yasrin lodged the case with Banani Police Station of the capital.
On Sunday at about 9 pm, the body of an unknown young man was recovered from a blue drum at Amtali Road of Mohakhali in the capital. The head of the body was not with the body. The two hands and legs were separated from the body.
Later, Detective Branch (DB) police discovered the mystery of the incident. The victim’s name was Mayna. His first wife fed him slipping tablets and he became senseless. Then Fatema sliced the body into six pieces and put the pieces in a drum and threw it on the Amtali Road of Mohakhali. She left the separated head in Banani lake. After police arrested Fatema she narrated the incident to them. She told them she killed Mayna Mia as he married for the second time.
