A court in Jessore has given death penalty to Helaludding of Sikarpur in Bagura Sadar Upazila who was living at a residence on rent at Barandipara in Jessore town.
The court of Nitai Chandra Saha, Special Judge, Jessore handed down the verdict on Monday.
SM Badruzzaman Palash, public prosecutor of the court in Jesore told that Helal kept the body of his second wife Rupali Khatun in the septic tank of his rented residence at Barabdipara after strangulating her over family feud on the night of June 14, 2001.
The PP told that Helal was handed over to the police by the owner of a furniture shop after he told the matter of killing his wife to his owner Shafiqul Islam. Then a case was lodged with Kotwali police station against carpenter Helal. Charge sheet was given to the court after investigation and the court pronounced the verdict on Monday in absentia.
