Mizanur Rahman Khan, District and Session Judge of Bagerhat, in a judgment delivered on Wednesday, convicted one Abu Sayeed and sentenced him to suffer rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of Tk.10 thousand in default to suffer rigorous imprisonment for one year more on the charge of killing his wife.
The convicted person Abu Sayeed is the son of one Abdul Hakim Hawladar of village Bri-Chaksree under Rampal Upaazila in Bagerhat district.
The prosecution story, in short, is that at the night of January 7, 2012 husband Abu Sayeed strangulated his wife Runa Khatun to death with a pillow and declared that Runa had committed suicide by hanging herself with her modesty scarf. In this connection a UD case was lodged with Rampal PS. But it was proved in the viscera test of the dead body that the house-wife had been strangulated to death.
