Bangladesh Railway (BR) started the selling of advance tickets for upcoming Eid-ul- Fitr from June 12. There is, however, any scarcity of tickets at the Chittagong railway station, BR of eastern zone sources claimed.
Hundreds of ticket-seekers mainly, those who had planned to travel on Eid-ul- Fitr from the port city to different routes, thronged at Chittagong Railway Station to get their desired tickets after stopping the rain for sometimes. Many people migrated to port city from different parts of the country.
They started thronging at Chittagong Railway Station from early hours on Wednesday for collecting tickets of the day for going back to their respective villages or home towns with a view to celebrate the upcoming Eid ul Fitr. The ticket-seekers standing in long queues bought the tickets of different routes connected with Chittagong amid tight security and discipline.
Station Master of Chittagong Railway Station Mahabub Rahman told The Asian Age that they had got huge response from the ticket-seekers. “We still have some tickets available for sale of different routes on that date due to expansion of accommodation,” Meanwhile, the BR authority has set up make-shift police camp on the station premises to avert any untoward incident centering over buying the advance tickets and check black marketing of tickets ahead of the Eid festival.
