The 73rd birthday of Humayun Ahmed, one of the most celebrated and renowned authors in Bangla literature, was observed Saturday at his ancestral home in the district with due respect and festivities.
To mark the birthday, a colourful procession led by Police Super Akber Ali Munshi paraded different streets in the town. Professor Jatin Sarker inaugurated the procession at Himu Pathok Adda in the town at around 11.30 am.
People from all walks of life and cultural personalities took part the procession.
Humayun was born in Kutubpur village of Netrakona’s Kendua upazila on November 13, 1948. On July 19, 2012, he passed away in New York, US suffering from colon cancer. He was buried at Nuhash Polli in Gazipur.
