Humayun Ahmed’s birth day celebrated in Netrakona

The 68th birth day of popular writer, dramatist and film-maker Professor Humayun Ahmed was celebrated at his birth place at his grandfather’s house “Sheikh Bari” at Doulotput of Mohanganj upazila town in Netrakona district on Sunday.
His family sources said, Humayun Ahmed was born in the Sheikh Bari on November 13, 1948. His father’s house is situated at Kutubpur under Kendua upazila of Netrakona district.  
Different socio-cultural and literary organizations and Mohanganj upazila administration chalked out various programmes marking his birth day.
As part of the programs, a colourful rally was brought out in the Mohanganj upazila town from Shaheed Ali Osman children park there and the rally was paraded main roads of the town.
Mohonganj upazila Nirbahi officer Muzammel Haque and the Humayun Ahmed’s maternal uncle Mahabubunnabi Sheikh along with local civil society leaders formally led the rally which was participated by local people from all walks of life.
Local people irrespective of cast , creed and religion also placed floral wreaths at the portrait of the popular writer Humayun Ahmed at the Sheikh Bari premises.
A discussion meeting on “the literary works of Humayun Ahmed ” was also held there. The Mohanganj upazila Nirbahi officer Muzammel Haque, Mahabubunnabi Sheikh, poet Roish Monuram, joint secretary of Netrakona press club Alpana Begum and general secretary of Mohanganj public library Sayed Yousuf Ali were. among others. addressed in the meeting.
The speakers recalled the great contribution of Humayun Ahmed in the field of literature and cultural arena of the country.
The meeting was followed by a musical soiree based on popular songs composed by the Humayun Ahmed.
The birth day of the popular writer Humayun Ahmed was also celebrated in his native village at Kutubpur under Kendua upazila of Netrakona district with different programs.
