Some activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Chattogram University (CU) Chapter,formed a human chain on the campus protesting rape incidents across the country on Tuesday.
Speakers demanded exemplary punishment for those who involved in rape incidents including
MC College and Begumganj in Noakhali.Meanwhile, they also demanded that former Ducsu VP Nurul Haque Nur, accused in the case of aiding and abetting rape, be brought under punishment.
The protest was organized at the premises of CU Shahid Minar around 1.30 pm on Tuesday. Earlier, another human chain was organized at the same place at around 10 am under the banner of general students.
At the protest program, CU BCL President Rezaul Haque Rubel said that those who do Chhatra League can never be rapists. The infiltrators have always tarnished the image of Chhatra League. Therefore, all Chhatra League leaders and activists should be aware so that no infiltrators can enter the organization.
At the same time, Iqbal Hossain Tipu, general secretary of CU BCL , said that the rapists had no party and no religious identity. They have only one identity – they are rapists. Chhatra League has to play a vital role to ensure their punishment.
