The students of Chittagong University formed a human chain demanding immediate arrest and ensure exemplary punishment of culprits who allegedly beat up a student in 2no gate of city yesterday.
More than 500 students and teachers of History Department made the demands at a human Chain held in front of the central Shahid Miner at CU.
the victim was identified as Shalah Akram Bappy, a student of 3rd of History department of CU.
Addressing at the Human Chain, the demonstrators put five point demands including arrest of accused, to ensure security of students, put embargo of entrance in shuttle train for outers. after the human chain, the demonstrators brought out a protest procession which was ended at Proctor office where a memorandum was handed over to CU Proctor.
on Sunday night, Bappi was sitting in Jhalbitan shop with his two friends waiting for the train to go to the campus. Later, when they came out of the shop, the shopkeeper started bargaining with them claiming payment of bill. At one stage, Bappi was injured by shopkeeper. Later, he was rescued and sent to Chittagong Medical College. In this connection A suit was filed with Panchlishthana by his father.
