Ganatantree Party, a partner of Awami League (AL) ruling-led alliance, Kishoreganj district unit on Thursday noon protested against the recent price hike of different daily essential commodities.
Ganatantree Party formed a human chain in front of Rongmahal cinema hall in the town.
Presidium member of Ganatantree Party Advocate Bhupendra Bhowmick Dholon said, the people were suffering to a great extent due to continuous price hike of essential food items including edible oil, rice, lentil, vegetables, fruits, meat and salt.
He added that people’s earnings have reduced a lot due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, Party leaders said, increasing prices of food items were creating extra financial burden on the common people.
Ganatantree Party alleged that the government did not care about the financial hardship of the common people.
The government completely failed to regulate the food market and the traders were increasing the prices of food items on their whims, and should monitor the food markets to stop price hike by the corrupt traders.”
