Human chain against militancy, terrorism

Anti-militancy human chains have been formed in all universities and colleges respective campuses across the Sylhet district on Monday morning to create awareness against militancy and terrorism and to commemorate those who were killed in Gulshan and Sholakia attacks.
Several Thousands of students and teachers took part in the hour-long protest programme at 11:00am which will be accompanied by rallies and meetings.
The students, teachers and employees from SUST, MC College, Modonmohan College, RRMC, Dakshin Surma College, Leading University, Metropoliton University, SIU, Sylhet Agriculture University, Northest University different public and private universities formed human chains at central Shaheed Minar, Bondarbazar, Tillagar, Madina Market, Shibgonj and other areas of districts holding various banners depicting anti-terrorism slogans.
Baagerhat Correspondent adds: The students and teachers of Bagerhat Govt. Boys’ School formed a human chain in front of the school premises on Sunday morning as a mark of protest against militant and terrorist activates taken place in the different corners of the country. At that time the students took oath to eradicate militancy and terrorism from the country.
 The oath was administered by Akram Hossain Hossain, Headmaster of the school administered the oath . The human chain was addressed among others by the teachers Shaikh Mujibor Rhman, Tarafdar Shariful Islam, Ajit Kumar Pal and Shaikh Amzad Hossain.
 It was addressed by Md. Mominur Rashid, ADC (Education and ICT), Bagerhat, Abdus Salam, President of IDEB, Bagerhat district, its Secretary General Md. Manwar Hossain, Engineer Abu Bakar and others. All the speakers strongly condemned the militancy and terrorism and promised to resist the same.
BSS from Rangpur adds: Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi has said there is no alternative to the youths but to eliminate militancy, terrorism, fundamentalist extremism and anarchy.
“A vested local quarter with assistance of their international associates has been hatching deep-rooted conspiracies against the country for hindering the massive development activities being conducted in the country,” he said.
Professor Nabi, also a noted population scientist, said this at a post-procession human chain cum rally at the altar of the Independence Memorial in the campus today as the chief guest.
Earlier, hundreds of teachers, students and employees of the university formed human walls in the campus, chanted slogan ‘Rukhe Danrao Bangladesh’ in chorus and brought out anti-militancy procession in the streets.
President of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association (BRUTA) Professor Dr RM Hafizul Rahman presided over the post-procession rally held on the Independence Memorial in the campus.
